If I wasn’t hooked after One For The Money, it is safe to say that I am completely hooked on the Stephanie Plum series after reading Two for the Dough. Needless to say they are pretty popular as I’ve tried checking them out from libraries and am having little success. I guess I’m a little behind the times.
Two for the Dough follows Stephanie Plum as she takes on her second major Failure to Appear (FTA) for her cousin Vinnie’s bond company. Kenny Mancuso, a cousin of Joe Morelli-Stephanie’s unwanted sidekick who happens to be a cop, is on the run after allegedly killing a friend using a military grade weapon. Not long after he left the army a number of weapons had gone missing and he was the number one link to the case. Also involved is his friend Spiro who is currently running a funeral home, yet trying to play innocent in the situation.
Throughout the book Stephanie, Joe & a few other cops are on the hunt for Kenny. He is watching them closely and leaves them clues to make sure they know that he is watching them.
The highlight of the book for me was the involvement of Grandma Mazur. She enjoys her evenings out at the funeral homes and make sure she never misses a visitation that takes place. Grandma’s visits to the funeral home play a key role throughout this book & she gets involved in the bounty hunting.
I love that as this book series continues there is an underlying story of Stephanie and Joe Morelli’s friendship. They started out as enemies in book one but as it has evolved they are becoming more like friends and I’m pretty sure I saw a spoiler that made me happy coming up in a few books!
Two for the Dough was a great book to continue on this series. I love that Janet Evanovich mixes humor, mystery & even a little line of romance into the books. When you start reading this book, I would highly recommend setting aside about two hours of time when you hit 60% of the book. Once it gets good, it gets very hard to put down.
I have already started Three to Get Deadly and they just keep getting better.
What are you reading right now? Have you read the Stephanie Plum series?
