December 2014 we were closing on a new house, selling a house, traveling almost ever weekend, working full time & trying to keep a toddler organized. Oh and it was two weeks before the Holidays. Every time I thought I had my life together, something would prove me wrong. I cried the whole way to work one morning because I knew we had plans that night but for the life of me I couldn’t remember who it was with or what it was.
When I got into work I decided that 2015 was going to be the year I got organized again. No more Google Calendar, I was going to write it all down. Val over at The Style Files had reviewed the Personal Planner and I decided to hop on board and buy one. I have used it every single day. While it worked pretty well for me, there were some quirks that I just didn’t like and I was on the hunt for something better for 2016.
Enter the Erin Condren LifePlanner. I had seen a few bloggers mention how amazing they were and my friend happened to be ordering one. As soon as I saw hers I knew I had to have it. 2016 would be even more organized than 2015.
I ordered my planner back in September and have been getting it ready for 2016. You can customize it to start with the remaining months of 2015 if you want. I decided to hold off and just start fresh in January since my current planner will get me through the rest of this year.
The Erin Condren LifePlanner has so many more features and will be great once the year starts! First things first, the process was so easy. There are a few covers to choose from and not a ton of customizing you can do (no dates ahead of time) so I ordered it pretty quickly. The only accessory I added was the snap-in meal planner to try and keep dinners a little more organized.
Not only was it easy to order but I had my new planner within a week and a half, much earlier than their shipping had originally estimated. The box was so cute and nicely packaged. It had such a personal touch to it even though they ship so many of them out a day.
I’m a complete nerd when it comes to quotes. When I opened up my Erin Condren LifePlanner to January the first thing I saw was the quote “Say yes to new adventures” and I got excited. Each month has a unique quote geared to motivating you for the month. There are also some additional notebook pages to write down anything you need to remember, goals or whatever you would like. They won’t judge you.
One thing I felt like I was completely missing with my old planner was a monthly overview. Instead of flipping through every single week I needed something simple to show me birthdays, anniversaries & any major events of the month. I didn’t necessarily need every day details but something to give me an idea of what my month was going to look like.
The monthly overview they had was perfect. There is a spot for goals, the major holidays are listed & there is enough room to enter in anything I need to for each day.
I fill up my weeks pretty quick, so I was excited to see how much room there was each week to fill in any events we might have going on while still having room for other information I might need to remember such as school breaks, who is picking up Little Man or if there is a birthday I might need to get a last minute card for.
In my planners I also keep notes of things that I need to remember to do each week such as picking up cards, running a specific errand or any last minute cleaning I need to remember to do before the weekend. There was room for that and more!
A few weeks ago I sat down and started to put in the important dates of 2016. I’m always amazed at how many weekends are covered before the year has even started so it felt great to have a place to put everything down already.
On top of everything, they have stickers and goodies in the back of each planner.
Most of these are just samples of other accessories that you can order on their website. I didn’t order any up front because I wanted to see what I would use. There are a few that I might have to go back and purchase now that I know what I will use.
One additional little thing I love was the little cards that you can insert into a friends planner. They attach to the spiral binding and are meant to be words of encouragement. A couple of my co-workers also ordered Erin Condren LifePlanners so I could see the little cards being used on days that someone is having a rough day.
While I’m not ready for time to speed up, I can’t wait to feel even more organized come January. If you are on the hunt for a good planner still, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out Erin Condren LifePlanner. I’m sold for years to come.

I have always struggled to find a planner that I could actually use and it would benefit my life. I too am a very busy mother! My calendar is always full and sometimes I remember to put one appt. in my phone and another on the calendar and still another in my planner. I need to have it all in one place. I am going to check these planners out! Thank you for sharing this info!

I had one of these several years ago and loved it! Now that I’ve added another baby to the mix and another kid in school, maybe it’s time to go back! I definitely prefer paper calendars over digital!

I highly recommend it! It is awesome!
This looks like a great planner! I went paperless a couple of years ago, but there’s nothing like having your schedule down in writing. Having that month-at-a-glance would be essential to me, so it’s great that this one has that feature!

I absolutely love writing everything down! I struggled so much with the paperless planners!
I absolutely love my Erin Condren Life Planner! Although, I feel like I’m currently cheating on it =/ haha I needed a second planner to separate school/life with my blog/freelance work. SO I bought Kate Spade…and then needed a second Kate Spade because it bothered me that my planners didn’t match….such issues haha
Hahahaha I’ve heard awesome things about the Kate Spade ones too!
HAHA! I completely understand the matching issue! A friend and I were discussing ways to keep different things organized and finally settled on multiple colors for each aspect of life!
I would lose my mind without my planner. Despite having my phone 24/7 it helps me track things easier in a planner and when I write
It is amazing how much having a planner has helped me feel so much more sane!
I am BIG on planners and to-do list. It’s the only way I stay sane haha. I’m in search of a 2016 planner and this one looks great. I’ll have to check it out!
